Years ago when we had LP's, you would slow down the record @ 33 1/3 speed and grab every note and nuance of a solo or a song. Now I grab song files in iTunes and import them into Native Instruments Guitar Rig and slow them down there and keep the pitch. It is works well. You can set loops points and repeat a section till you get it.
